About Mike Brown

Mike Brown is currently a staff photographer at The Commercial Appeal, a 150,000-circulation news daily serving the tri-state metro area of Memphis, Tenn. He’s a self-taught photographer that began his career working in the advertising industry. After climbing the ranks serving as a team leader for multiple Fortune 500 companies he longed for a drastic change. Brown shifted his focus to the camera and dove head first into the world of freelance photojournalism. Since then he has seen his work published in a myriad of newspapers throughout the US and Europe. He has also done contract work for Newsweek, Stern and Entrepreneur magazines. When not busy documenting the triumphs and tragedies around Memphis, Brown devotes his spare time to making his new daughter giggle and digs through used record bins. Samples of his work can be seen at mikebrownimages.com.
