About Mariel Myers

MYERS, MARIEL is a news producer at KPIX-TV, the CBS owned-and-operated station in the San Francisco-Bay Area. She oversees the 5 p.m. newscast. Her duties include selecting stories, writing scripts, coordinating with field crews, writers, video editors, and graphic artists, and supervising the live broadcast. She also produces breaking news coverage and special projects, such as election coverage and webcasts. Myers was born in the Philippines and grew up in the San Francisco-Bay Area. She graduated from UCLA with degrees in political science and communication studies. After several internships in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., she got her first job in TV news at KBAK in Bakersfield. She then moved to KOVR in Sacramento before coming to KPIX/CBS5 in 1999. When not working, Myers enjoys distance running, and completed her first half-marathon in 2008. She also enjoys playing with her two boys, listening to music, cooking, skiing, and hanging out at the beach.
