Melissa Pamer is a general assignment reporter specializing in environmental coverage at the Los Angeles Daily News. Before joining the Daily News in November 2011, she was a reporter at its sister paper, the 70,000-circulation Daily Breeze, located in the suburb of Torrance, Calif. At the Breeze since 2008, Pamer covered four coastal cities and their schools, the sprawling Los Angeles school district, and shared the environmental beat. She is a 2007 graduate of the University of Southern California's graduate journalism program. Before becoming a reporter, she worked in film and web production in New York and had post-production and copy editing stints in San Francisco. Her undergraduate degree in Modern Culture and Media is from Brown University, and she grew up in the Washington, D.C., suburbs. She's a backpacker, biker, cook and craft beer fan who hopes to some day have a viable vegetable garden.
