About Mandi Wright
WRIGHT, MANDI was born in 1965 in Pittsburgh. She has worked at a newspaper in Ohio and at the Roanoke Times before joining the staff at the Detroit Free Press in November 2000. In that time she went from film to digital stills and recently into video. With a passion for travel, the Free Press has been a great fit for Wright who has covered the tragedies of 9/11, the insanity of high school spring break in Cancun, the war in Iraq, the aftermath of hurricane Katrina and the 2006 winter Olympics. In September 2008 she accepted a team national Emmy award for her videography on the project 40 Years of Respect. Wright was very glad that her mom was there to see it. Wright still bleeds black and gold and has been shooting photos since high school. Contact: mrwright@freepress.com
