About Neal Haldane
HALDANE, NEAL has taught journalism/public relations and composition for the past 18 years at Madonna University, a private 4,500-student college in Livonia, MI just outside Detroit. During the past year, he has tried to integrate digital media into the journalism/public relations curriculum by requiring students to complete multimedia stories and post their work online. For more than nine years, Haldane freelanced for the Detroit News until the Motor City dailies decided to cut at-home delivery last March. Before moving to academia, Haldane worked as a contributing editor at AAA Michigan, community editor for the Observer & Eccentric newspapers in Southeast Michigan, and reporter for the Suburban LIFE Graphic in Chicago’s suburbs. His wife, Michelle, is helping him cope with their daughter preparing to graduate from high school and joining him to watch their son’s freshmen basketball games. Haldane bleeds green and white (Michigan State) and enjoys photography and shooting beyond the arc on the hardwoods.
