About Rosalio Ahumada
AHUMADA, ROSALIO is a crime and public safety reporter at The Modesto Bee, a 70,000-circulation newspaper that covers Stanislaus County in California’s Northern San Joaquin Valley. His responsibilities include writing and updating breaking news stories for the newspaper and its web site, modbee.com. He also posts breaking news on The Bee’s Twitter page. Along with breaking news, he develops in-depth stories on public safety issues and trends, including gang violence and Modesto's gang injunction. He recently began using a small video camera to conduct short interviews and capture raw footage from crime scenes that were later posted on modbee.com. Ahumada is a fluent Spanish-speaker, originally from El Centro, CA in Imperial County in the southeast corner of the state. He graduated from California State University, Chico with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He started at The Bee, where he worked as an intern for six months, before being hired as an education reporter for The Merced Sun-Star in Merced, CA. He returned to The Bee in 2006, where he has worked since.
