About Rhyen Coombs

COOMBS, RHYEN is a multimedia reporter and producer with a master's degree from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Her thesis "Foreclosed", documenting items left behind in California foreclosures, received the 2009 Dorothea Lange Fellowship. Coombs has produced multimedia content for the Center for Investigative Reporting and The Chauncey Bailey Project, and regularly teaches social media workshops for the Knight Digital Media Center. Prior to attending graduate school, Coombs was an editor and online developer for World Pulse Media in Portland, OR. Her work has appeared in such outlets as the San Jose Mercury News, Oakland Tribune, San Francisco Bay Guardian, Contra Costa Times, China Digital Times, AlterNet.org and NBC.
