About Reaz Mahmood
Reaz Mahmood has been a member of the mass communication and journalism faculty at Fresno State since August 2008. A year after his arrival, he began serving as an adviser for its student-run newspaper, The Collegian, which has a combined circulation of 13,500 per week for its three editions. In addition to journalism, his teaching and research areas include international communication, communication for peace and social change, and new media. His research has been published in the Global Media Journal and the International Journal of Communication. Mahmood has a bachelor’s degree in radio-television-film from The University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His hobbies include sea kayaking, hiking, photography, music composition, and creative writing. He is originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh, and he has been legally blind since birth.
