About Rachael Myrow
MYROW, RACHAEL is the host and a reporter for the daily morning edition of The California Report, broadcast to 20+ stations throughout the state. She covers a wide variety of subjects ranging from hard economics to fluffy Irish pastries, continuing a career trend that began in high school. At the Franklin Press (of Franklin HS in LA's Highland Park) she started on the opinion page. That lasted about half a year before she began folding her opinions more subtly into fact-ridden text. While getting her bachelor's degree in English at UC Berkeley, Rachael got hooked on public radio at the campus station, KALX-FM. After hosting and co-producing "Film Close-Ups," a radio magazine on Bay Area film, she returned to UC Berkeley for a graduate degree in journalism. She landed her first job as a producer with Marketplace Radio in Los Angeles, where she served as all-purpose editor, reporter and fill-in host for Marketplace and the Marketplace Morning Report. Rachael then spent six years reporting full-time for KPCC-FM in LA. She's covered the religious passion of the region's Korean-American Christians, the explosive growth of trade through Southern California's ports, and, of course, plenty of wildfires. She has still not managed to get a tan.
