Musicologist Rose Theresa is an urban ethnographer, hands-on videographer and historian of music and visual culture.  She completed her PhD (History and Anthropology of Music) at the University of Pennsylvania in 2000 and since then has taught courses in music, cinema and media studies at Clark University, University of Virginia, the State University of New York at Stony Brook and, most recently at the University of California at Berkeley, where she is adjunct lecturer in the Department of Music. Rose’s current projects include an ethnographic study of opera in the San Francisco Bay Area (to be published as a multi-media website) and a series of documentary shorts on the work and play of women in music. Dr. Theresa is also the founder of Uptown Media Arts, a bay-area provider of educational and media content services.
