About Robin Wise
WISE, ROBIN and her business, Sound Imagery, are based in Northern California. She has served as technical director and engineer on radio documentaries, audio books, and sound for film. Wise also creates multi-media presentations. As a lecturer at the University of California at Berkeley, she teaches digital audio technology at the Graduate School of Journalism. She also serves as an audio consultant and trainer to many media professionals. When telling a story with sound, Wise knows what to say and how to say it, using words enriched with sound. She knows how to record a country and has done field recording in Cambodia, Central America, Europe, India, Pakistan, South Africa, and throughout the United States. Wise began this work in 1992, coming from a 20-year career as a musician, music educator, and conductor of award winning performance ensembles. This background provides a solid foundation for her endeavors at Sound Imagery, allowing her to bring extraordinary aesthetic sensibilities and communication skills to all her sound work. Wise knows how to create audio with a conductor’s ear.
Wise’s forte is collaborating on a project from conception through delivery—as technical advisor, location sound recordist, digital editor, sound designer, and mix and mastering engineer. Project Awards include: The Peabody Award, The Robert Wood Johnson Award, Silver Baton of the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award, AAAS Award, Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, Women in Communications Award, Clarion Award. Contact: robin@soundimagery.com
