About Shelley Acoca
Shelley Acoca is the instant news editor at The Miami Herald. Her responsibilities include planning five daily editions of MiamiHerald.com, overseeing producers and bloggers, creating and analyzing benchmarks, content oversight, conception and creation of multimedia, email newsletters and text alerts, as well as working with section editors throughout the newsroom to generate online content. A 20-year journalist, Acoca became the newspaper’s reader exchange editor in December 2007, working with bloggers and developing user generated content. Acoca was a Getty Annenberg Arts Fellow in 2006; her hunger to know more about multimedia journalism was an outgrowth of that fellowship. She’s worked at the Herald for a decade, has a love/hate relationship with hurricanes (good for site traffic, bad for possibility of destroying home and all other worldly goods), can’t stop playing with the Genius feature on her iPod and has a not-so-secret addiction to really bad reality television.
