About Sandy Louey
Sandy Louey is an afternoon online general assignment reporter for The Sacramento Bee, a 253,000-circulation newspaper that covers Northern California. Louey moved over to reporting for sacbee.com in October 2008, covering breaking news, traffic and weather. She has been with The Bee since 2001, covering a number of beats including K-12 education, crime, general assignment and local government. Before arriving at The Bee, she worked as a reporter for The Albany Democrat-Herald in Albany, OR, The Patriot Ledger in Quincy, MA, The Hartford Courant in Hartford, CN and The Dallas Morning News in Dallas, TX. Louey grew up in San Francisco. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Louey has been an active member of the Asian American Journalists Association for 20 years. She has served in leadership roles in AAJA including chapter president and national board member. She loves rummaging through used bookstores, chocolate and trying a range of cuisines.
