About Helmut Schmidt
HELMUT SCHMIDT is a reporter for The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, a daily newspaper covering northwestern Minnesota and the eastern half of North Dakota. His beats include business, the military, general assignment and a weekly column. He also works with the paper’s online division, In-Forum.com, developing interactive content, surveys and chat rooms. Prior to taking on his current position in 2000, Schmidt worked as a copy editor for The Forum and was responsible for designing Page 1 among other things. He has received several awards from the North Dakota and Minnesota Associated Press for competitions in layout and headline writing. Before joining The Forum, he was a reporter and editor at the Albert Lea (MN) Tribune. Schmidt has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.
