About Sean Powers

Sean Powers's avatar image POWERS, SEAN is a reporter and digital editor at Illinois Public Media, the public broadcasting station in Urbana, IL. His responsibilities include radio news reporting, producing online videos and slideshows, hosting web chats to go along with live radio and television programs, filling in as a news anchor, and maintaining the station’s social networking sites. He is the youngest reporter at Illinois Public Media, and regularly trains other journalists at the station on multiplatform reporting. Powers is a native of the south suburbs of Chicago, and he graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Missouri in 2009. He got his start in journalism while producing documentaries for his high school’s 1500-watt radio station. He has worked at KBIA Public Radio in Columbia, MO, the Public Radio Exchange, Chicago Public Radio and Marketplace. He enjoys long distance running, listening to music and all things Apple.
