About Shelah Moody
MOODY, RANI SHELAH is currently a blogger for Streetwise Radio, a growing Internet radio station based in Gilroy, CA (www.streetwisesd.radio). Her responsibilities include blogging, podcasting and reporting on entertainment news and cultural trends. Streetwise Radio includes the following platforms for bloggers: Soul City, Jazz Café, Big Splif’s 4: 20 Reggae, Streetwise Big Hop and Ultra Mix. A native of Pasadena, CA, Moody graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a degree in journalism and later earned a master’s degree in ethnic studies from San Francisco State University. Her first major newspaper job was at the San Francisco Chronicle, where worked as a reporter and editorial assistant. Moody wrote the Jefferson Awards profiles for community service for the Chronicle’s Style Section for three years and was instrumental in the development of Chronicle Radio, a podcast feature that ran on their website, SFgate.com. In 2005, Moody won a Hearst in-house award for Best Podcast (with Mary Wilson of the Supremes). For three years, Moody served as entertainment editor for CityFlight, a monthly print magazine geared toward the African American community in the Bay Area. Moody left the Chronicle in 2009 and continues to freelance, as well as volunteer for nonprofit organizations such as the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco-based AfroSolo Theatre Company.
