About sngager
I supervise the online operation for The Oregonian newspaper and work with our affiliated Web site, OregonLive.com. Additionally, I'm in charge of the breaking news team, the Portland and suburban reporting teams, the copy desk and presentation team.
I've worked at the newspaper since 1995, when I moved to Portland from Iowa City, Iowa. There, I worked in various jobs from copy editor to city editor. Partway through my tenure at The Oregonian, I moved to Lincoln, Neb., with my husband to teach at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He was an associate professor who taught editing; I taught several reporting courses.
It's an interesting time in the news business, and I'm eager to see where things go and what I can learn along the way.
When I'm not working, I'm hanging out with my two kids, Sam, 8, and Abby, 4, and my husband, Jerry.
