MICHAEL SNYDER is an editor/senior producer for Washingtonpost.com, where he has served as night news editor since 2002 and will soon be given the role of Deputy Editor for Politics. Michael is the chief liaison with The Washington Post's news desk and was the principal evening editor for post 9/11 coverage. From 1991 to 2000, he was the Assistant Director for New Media at The Chronicle of Higher Education where he managed weekly online news content and produced and edited the Web guide. From 1990 to 1991, he was an editorial assistant for Seapower, a monthly magazine published by the Navy League of the United States. From 1985 to 1989, he was in the US Navy where he attained the rank of Petty Officer Second Class and served as the Navy Broadcast Station Manager, McMurdo Station in Antarctica, and as an assistant editor for Navy Recruiter. He won awards for Navy achievement and good conduct and was honorably discharged. He graduated with honors from Defense Information School, Fort Benjamin in Harrison, IN, where he studied print, broadcast, and electronic and photojournalism, public affairs, and newspaper design.
