About Simon Perez
PEREZ, SIMON is a general assignment reporter with CBS5 KPIX TV, the CBS television affiliate in San Francisco. Among the more notable stories he’s covered: the Terminator’s inauguration, Scott Peterson’s murder trial, the Olympic Torch Run kerfuffle in San Francisco. Born and raised in Virginia, he earned a journalism degree at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. He completed his master’s journalism studies at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. Perez’s professional career has led him from newspaper reporting in Danville, VA, to magazine writing in Madrid, to television writing and producing at Canal de Noticias NBC in Charlotte, NC, to television reporting at WGXA in Macon, GA, WRIC in Richmond, VA and now CBS5. Perez enjoys the futility of cheering on the Washington Redskins and the thrill of open-water swimming in the San Francisco Bay; he’s swum from the shore to Alcatraz and back four times.
