SHERRY STERN is assistant features editor at the Los Angeles (CA) Times. Stern first joined The Times in 1990 as managing editor of TV Times, and has since been daily editor for entertainment, deputy calendar editor and Calendar weekend editor before assuming her current position. In addition, she has held editorial positions at the Orange County (CA) Register, was editor-in-chief and managing editor for the Vista (CA) Press and a reporter at the Arizona Daily Star (Tucson). In 1998, she shared the Los Angeles Times Editorial Award for innovation with the Calendar weekend staff, and won first place for best headline portfolio by the Orange County Press Club when she was at the Orange County Register. Stern is a member of the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors, and past president of the USC chapter of Society of Professional Journalists. She has a Bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California and a Master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
