About Steve Clow

CLOW, STEVE is deputy metro editor of the Los Angeles Times, where he has worked as an editor since 1993. He helps oversee many aspects of California coverage, while directly supervising reporters covering legal and environment beats, as well as roving correspondents. He has also edited national, sports and entertainment coverage at the paper, though not at the same time. His previous jobs were at the Los Angeles Daily News (sports editor, features editor), the National Sports Daily (West Coast bureau chief), Los Angeles Herald Examiner (news and sports) and small newspapers in California and Arizona (reporter, copy editor, news editor.) He graduated from the University of Southern California, as did his wife, Valerie J. Nelson, a reporter for the Times. They have a daughter at UC Berkeley and a son in community college. When not paying tuitions or commuting, he enjoys distance running and sailing.
