About Susan Valot

Susan Valot is the Orange County reporter for KPCC Radio (89.3 FM), the most listened to NPR affiliate in the Los Angeles area, with more than 650,000 listeners every week. Valot started in Southern California radio 13 years ago, at KLON, a small public radio station in Long Beach, before she received her bachelor's degree in Communications from California State University, Fullerton. At KPCC, Valot covers anything and everything in Orange County, from county and city politics to the impact of state budget cuts on local programs. She recently began contributing extra content for some of her stories to the KPCC website. Valot, a Southern California native, has won numerous awards, including six RTNA Golden Mike Awards and honors from the Los Angeles Press Club. She is a former Knight Center for Specialized Journalism fellow and participated in the RIAS Berlin Commission exchange program for broadcast journalists to Germany. She enjoys traveling, playing ice hockey and doing yoga.
