About Tim Sheehan

is a reporter for The Fresno Bee, a 160,000-circulation daily newspaper covering California's central San Joaquin Valley. Sheehan has been a business reporter/blogger since October 2008, but for the better part of the last nine months has been largely consumed by California's proposed high-speed rail project. Prior to that, he was a city government reporter for The Bee's Visalia bureau and, earlier, was the Visalia bureau chief/editor. Sheehan is a lifelong resident of the San Joaquin Valley, growing up in Madera and earning a journalism degree at California State University, Fresno. He worked as a reporter and editor for weekly newspapers in Fresno County before joining The Bee in 1998 as editor of its weekly Neighbors publication. He moved to The Bee's daily newsroom as an editor in 2001. He and his wife, Linda, have been married for 26 years and are proud "parents" to a pair of rambunctious wiener-dogs, Peanut and Butters.

  • Spanish Lessons: What one country's high-speed train system can teach California [edit]
This series of stories, videos, graphics and other material sprang from a weeklong reporting trip to Spain in November 2011 to explore that nation's high-speed trains and what lessons they might hold for California's proposed HSR system. The trip was a joint project of The Fresno Bee and California Watch, and was published on Jan. 15 and 22, 2012. The reporter shot photos and video for the project while traveling in Madrid, Seville, Valencia and Barcelona. One video published Jan. 15 was edited and produced by California Watch, the second on Jan. 22 was edited and produced by the reporter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYJny4IY9Cw).
