About Tyche Hendricks
HENDRICKS, TYCHE spent more than a dozen years as a newspaper reporter, most of them at the San Francisco Chronicle, where she covered immigration, demographics and immigrant communities. Her book, "The Wind Doesn't Need a Passport: Stories from the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands," will be published by the UC Press in June 2010. She is teaching an international reporting course on Mexico at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Hendricks has worked at the San Francisco Examiner, the San Jose Mercury News and the Seattle Times and as a freelance radio producer. Her work has won awards, including a Best of the West prize and an NFCB Golden Reel. She holds a BA from Wesleyan University, and an MA in Latin American Studies and an MJ in Journalism, both from UC Berkeley. She enjoys hiking, yoga, reading, cooking and working with the kids in her daughter’s 4th grade classroom.
