About Utku Cakirozer
CAKIROZER, UTKU is a reporter at Milliyet, a 250,000-circulation national daily newspaper in Turkey. His responsibilities include covering world affairs that have an impact on Turkish domestic and foreign policies. Cakiozer has been in the United States since March 2008, first as a Daniel Pearl Press Fellow at the Los Angeles Times until August 2008, and then as a Fulbright fellow at the University of Maryland. He is based in Ankara at the capital bureau of the newspaper, which had its headquarters in Istanbul. He graduated with a degree in political science from the University of Bilkent, Ankara. His first newspaper job was at Cumhuriyet, another national daily, where he worked as an intern. He also worked short term at a couple of TV stations before taking a job at Milliyet in 1996, as a national politics reporter. He also covered defense related issues between 1998 and 2000. Since then, he is the foreign policy reporter of the newspaper. He enjoys exploring new places, watching movies and going to live concerts of all sorts.
