About Whit Richardson
RICHARDSON, WHIT is a staff writer and web editor at Mainebiz, a statewide business publication based in Portland, ME. Besides planning and writing articles for the 10,000-circulation print edition, his responsibilities include editing and posting daily business stories to the Mainebiz website; compiling The Daily, a free email news product sent to more than 4,000 subscribers daily; and overseeing a web redesign at Mainebiz and its sister papers, the Hartford Business Journal and the Worcester Business Journal. Richardson grew up in southern Maine and graduated from Connecticut College with dual degrees in anthropology and international relations. He also studied creative nonfiction and audio production at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, ME. His first journalism job was as a staff writer and photographer at The Current, a community weekly in Scarborough, ME. He was hired by Mainebiz as a staff writer in 2005, and became its Web editor in January 2007. Over the years, he has also produced a few documentary radio pieces that have aired at a number of public radio stations across the country. He enjoys reading about history, traveling and telemark skiing.
