Social Media Journalism

Social Media Journalism
Media, information production and distribution is global, social, ubiquitous and cheap according media guru Clay Shirky. Communications professionals have the opportunity to use information as a way to convene an engaged audience focused on the information. The audience is now able to communicate not only with the information producer but also with each other. The news is social in ways never possible with print alone. This session provides tools and best practices for using social media as a topic research tool, a story engagement platform, as a source for breaking news, and as a source for new story ideas.
