Motes are sophisticated sensors that scientists can place in natural habitats. The sensors, armed with antennas, can beam information to scientists 24-hours-a-day.
The Motes communicate with each other, and send data over radio waves to a central receiver. The receiver then relays the information to scientists via satellite.
