The federal government has set up a USASpending.gov website that lists federal grants and contracts that have been awarded, mainly under the federal recovery act.

To search by the name of a company to find out the grants or contracts it has been awarded, click on the Advanced Search link.

The U.S. General Accounting Office operates and Excluded Parties List System database of companies that have been barred from receiving federal contracts or federal assistance. It's searchable by name of company.
