embedding map mashups

Introduction

Why does WordPress keep stripping out my carefully created map mashup?

Now that you've learned how to create map mashups, adding them to your site should be a simple matter of copy-and-paste, right? Not so fast - there are a number of issues you may run into when trying to insert the map embed code provided by Google and other providers to your site. We'll cover a few of those here.

For now, we're just covering this problem as it affects WordPress, but we know it affects other content management systems as well. If you have tips or advice on solving this for Plone, Drupal, or another CMS,  leave us a comment!

I followed the instructions by both you and the xml google plugin people and i cant get the maps to work.

This is my website:
http://helenanderik2010.com/?p=39

This is the link that i get when i save link location after right clicking on "view in google earth":
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&vps=1&jsv=197c&msa=0&o...

This is the shortcode i use in the editor:
[xmlgm {http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&vps=1&jsv=197c&msa=0&output=nl&msid=117930852636923721724.00047c8aa2f8f3e19f205} width=400;height=300]

Any idea what i have done wrong?

Erik - First, do you have the Google Maps key installed?

You know, it's been a long time since this tutorial was written, and you may fare better with a more contemporary Google Maps embedding plugin. Here's a promising one:

If you try it, let us know how it goes and we'll update this tutorial.
